Sammy Blindell - The more flow the bigger the impact

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Sammy Blindell is the founder of How To Build A Brand and the One Drop Movement. In this episode, Sammy Blindell talks about her experience as an impact entrepreneur learning the keys to creating bigger impact.

Han, no one welcome to the first episode of the Impact Gold Rush Podcast, I'm your host Woon Tan. In this first episode, we've got Sammy Blindell, one of the fascinating things that Sammy shared is the link between flow and impact. So it's not as obvious as it sounds and so listen in, and I hope you enjoy our first episode. Hi Sammy, welcome to the show. So one of the things that you do really well is getting people together and motivated. So I know you have been a branding visibility expert for many many years and you are also the founder of the One Drop Movement and your whole One Drop Movement is so inspiring. You got, you brought together such a amazing group of people who are change makers, making a difference, and one of the biggest thing that I like about this movement is that individually, we are one drop together. We are the ocean. I think that's the that's the motto of the group so Sammy, could you tell us a bit more why every entrepreneur should be impact driven?...

Well thank you so much for introducing me. That was a brilliant introduction. I I still wake up every morning and pinch myself that this is even something that's flowing through me and I think one of the biggest lessons that I've learned and, as you quite rightly said you know, I've been. I was branding businesses for many years and then I launched my first business in two thousand and two. So I've been in business nearly twenty years and you know, business hasn't always been easy, but when it has become easy is when I've let go and I've just let it flow through me and that that, for me, was like a fluffy type of approach that I wasn't willing to. Let go. I always wanted so much control of everything, and actually One Drop Movement started back in two thousand and two when I started my first business and I didn't I just...

...always felt like I haven't got time for it. I haven't got time for it and I wouldn't allow it to just flow through me and two years ago, after filming on a documentary, I came off the documentary and it was like a bolt of lightning hit me and it was like come on. You've got to you've got to do this, and so so what I've been feeling the calling for a long time and I think a lot of entrepreneurs and business owners. They feel a calling and they know they're here to make a bigger ripple in the world, but there they're, listening to everything that's external, outside of them they're, not listening to the the calling of their soul. The purpose why they're here and I think, if more entrepreneurs and business owners could just get still for a minute and instead of being in that kind of busyness rather than business soul, energy, then they would be quiet enough for long enough to hear that the...

...direction they're going might not be their reason for being here. So so I think that being an impact entrepreneur, when you realize that that actually, I am here for something greater- and you know like twenty years it's been almost since I've really stepped into it and okay, One Drop Movement is the movement I am I'm here to birth and it's burthing through me. I don't own it. This is something that has been downloaded to me, I'm here to make this impact. You know having been a branding expert for a long time it took me well, I mean it's taken me two years to come to terms with the fact that I even am an an impact entrepreneur but, so I think there's a lot of people out there that are impact entrepreneurs that don't even realize it they're already making a ripple, but they could be making a bigger ripple, and I believe that,...

...rather than trying to do it on your own and business, can be a very lonely journey because we're wanting to be in control of everything most of the time, and so it becomes a very lonely place because you think nobody else can do it better than you. You know I have to do this myself and you end up coming away from impact and go into distract and as a result of that. You go away from the impact that you were here to to birth through you. So I just I love the light bold moment when you see an entrepreneur go from that kind of distracted busy. You know worrying months to month, where the next client or their next money's going to come from to just waking up in that movement maker energy that ripple maker energy every morning and just going out there to be that one drop that you wish to see in the world to just let go and grow and that that, for me, is the real sign of...

...an impact entreproneur, the one who's listening, the one who's rising higher the one who's digging deeper who's prepared to go where they've never been before, and to let go of that that control and oh my gosh when you when you let go and you let it flow through you and you let go of that control. It's really scary at first you think. Well, hang on a minute. My business brain is kicking in here, but you can't let Your business brain kick in. If you're an impact entripeneur and you know, which is to me, is all about giving back and we call it dropping it forward instead of paying it forward, it's all about being that one drop and if you can wake up every morning and set an intention, that I am going to create the biggest ripple that I can in the lives that I touch in a positive way. Today you will never be deprived while someone else gains...

...so the more you impact on other people's lives and forget about how much you need to bring in this month forget about how many clients you need forget about all of that physical human stuff and actually step into humanity step into that humanitarian. In you step into that that all encompassing energy of being that ripple for every single life you touch and Gosh I mean I nearly had a heart attack by in two thousand and thirteen, because I was so busy focusing on the profit and trying to be the best I could be, and comparing myself to everybody around me thinking, Oh Gosh! Well, that's what success looks like and I've got to be more. Like that and I was pushing and shoving and striving and driving and constantly on that mission to overachieve every financial goal, an I brought in the coaches that were a massive investment to grow me and I...

...almost had a heart attack doing it that way, and so I just find that actually by focusing on purpose, not my purpose, though other people's purpose. If I help other people to achieve their purpose, I will always achieve mine. So it's a very different mindset and you know, like we run Ripple Fest once a month, which is five days of the juicy awesomeness, where I bring movement makers who have already been where you are and have now made an impact on millions of people where you want to be and there's a clear gap there. So how did they do it and, like me, it's taken them twenty years, thirty years, fifty years to make their impacts and make those millions of impacts. You might want to do it in six months, so it', it's connecting those dots. So you don't have to take that hard way, but it takes some shifting and every single Ripple Fest that I deliver. You know...

...they. It takes them a while to get into that impact zone where people come into something like that to get what they can from it and actually the energy. You need to go into something like that. Is, how can I compete with other people based on how much I can give to it so if I give if, Woon, if I make you my absolute one hundred percent commitment to support you and get your business out there, you're going to make an enormous ripple effect, so I'm now making a ripple effect through you. You go and make a ripple effect through someone else and they go and make a ripple effect through someone else and that someone else might the make the ripple effect for me. So it always comes back to you and you never know where it's going to come from and don't be attached to that. Don't think! Oh! Well, I'm doing all this for Woon and Woon's not doing this. For me, the universe will always deliver in proportion. God will always...

...deliver in proportion, spirit. Whatever it is that that you have inside you that connects you to the higher purpose that you're here for then just focus on on how you can be the very best version of that and by doing that, and that's what we do in Ripple Fest. So it's like look forget about your own business and driving your own business you're, going to share with everybody what you do so everyone's going to know what you do, but then just let it go and focus only on supporting one other person be the one drop for one other person in this community and by being that one drop they're going to be the drop for someone else. Who will be the drop for someone else, who'll be the drop for someone else, and it will always come back to you and seem to create so much more power and purpose and profit, the profit chases you. I want you to imagine your profit being a little pacman and it's just like...

Babybbibibybib. It's like running behind you trying to catch up with you, because the more you're serving the more you'll be selling and. There's this this thing that I think a lot of impact entrepreneurs stress about which is where's the money going to come from. If I'm not focusing on my business where's the money going to come from you, the money is going to come from all those ripples you're making through everyone else, because guess what happens Woon, when I back you a hundred percent, what are you going to go and do you're going to grow people are going to tell you. Oh my gosh, Woon and. I can see you're showing up so big. What are you doing? Oh well, I've got this amazing change maker supporting me to dos who is it? Sammy Blindell. Oh my gosh? Well, I need to follow her too, and so that's what happens is the ripple effect is being made. So sorry, that that was such a long answer around the question you asked, but I'm very passionate about it, and I think that I think that really what I'm here to do, I think my real purpose is to rebrand business. I...

...want to rebrond the world of business, which is currently it has a reputation that is, you know. Business is all about making money and as business owners, we are here to make money, don't be afraid of sales. You need to be making them because you're a business owner right, we're not we're not stepping away from that. We're not hiding from that, but I think that my real purpose is to to make it a like a non negotiable thing that all businesses should be dropping it forward. I want to make it a brand standard that businesses are doing something that gives back. That makes an impact in some way, because you know we are here for something greater than money and I think the people that are chasing the money calling themselves an impact, entrepreneur they're working hard. So if you can see people around you working hard, but are saying that they're an impact entrepreneur, you will know very quickly because, if they're working hard that that's not impact, it's almost like the the easier...

...it is and the easier it flows for you, the more of an impact entrepreneur. You really are because it will just be happening, and that means you are making a difference to other people and other people are now making a difference to you as a result, so yeah you'll be able to tell them straight away, who's working, really hard and who's inflow, or thank you Sammy. So that was such a such a brilliant answer and you touch upon so many key points. I really love the fact you mentioned dropping it forward, because to me one of the things that drive me is that business and life, it's always about giving forward and what goes around comes around, and this is completely how how I run my life and I I want to run my business and so thank you so much for that answer and yeah. So where can people find you? I know you publish a lot of content,...

...you're very easy to be found so yeah. Why can people find you yeah? Well I mean you: Can Google Sammy Blindell and you'll find me all over Google or join us on our next Ripple Fest. We run them for five days each month and that's really the best way to start making your ripple effects, even if, like I've had people that have joined the last Ripple Fest, who are serious business people they've been in business a long time, so these are not new to the gate. You know these are people who have been doing this a long time who have gone through it and realized that there was even another layer that they could go so, no matter whether you're at the start and you're, not even sure what your ripple is or you're working hard to make money. But you just don't feel like you're getting anywhere or maybe there's something packed behind your purpose that you can't get to on your own. But together we can get to...

...what that is, and why do it alone, if you can have fun along the way doing it with other people? So I would love for you to join the next Ripple Fest Quest your quest to make a bigger ripple, which is at blessings beyond business dot com. So if goes to www dot blessings beyond Business dot com and I look forward to making that Bigga ripple with you awesome. Thank you very much then thank you Sammy. So that was the first episode.
