ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Anne Bland talks about why we need to urgently be addressing the Global Goals and how a business that is driven by impact will future proof it.

Hello and welcome back to the impact goal rush podcast. I'm your host, winter, and I'll guest today is end learnt, and she's going to be sharing how you can future prove your business. Now, if you miss the previous episode, we had Dr Ross Miller, who's a foot and income doctor. She shares her journey as an entrepreneur and what got her started on her podcasting journey during a time of healthcare crisis. So here's Today's episode with N could you share first why rebusiness should become an impact business? Well, I believe that all businesses ought to be social impact business is not necessary social enterprises, but social impact business is something that is a vehicle for good in the world, making a difference both on the economic bottom line, off the business, but also off of planet and people, and I think that is that is really beautiful to think that actually businesses can be for so good in the...

...world and actually it takes makes a lot of business sense, because lots of people are demanding that now, as we know from the customer and client surveys. And why do you think this is so important in terms of aligning your your team and your mission are own the sustainable development goals it is quite a matter of urgency for for all of us as a humankind. We really need to understand that if we don't act quickly, our planet will not be able to survive. You know, we will not be able to survive if the planet goes bankrupt. And Sustainable Development Goals was a massive undertaking of lots of different organizations, lots of different types of businesses and governments and different NGOs and so forth, who came together and decided that actually, we can do something about these issues that are kind of compounded difficult problems that we all face,...

...like hunger and and climate change and gender equality, unequality and so forth, and we need to really start looking into them in a more strategic way. And Sustainable Development Goals are now a very clever tool where everybody in, regardless whether you're a government or charity or corporate business or Sime, you can use them for your own benefit, because that is what really is called for by investors, by customers, by citizens, IE, all of your stakeholders. So it makes a perfect business sense to be able to understand which sustainable development goals, or global goals, as they also called, Your Business is lined and it's based on what you feel as an entrepreneur, as a business leader, is most closest to your heart, and then taking that purpose into everything...

...that you do as a business and can you share a few tips around what people can do in terms of concrete and do to move towards this goals? Well, yes, I first of all, I think the main thing is to understand what is it that makes your heart seeing as an entrepreneur, as a business leader, what is it that makes you wake up in the morning? Why do you want to have a business in the first place? I mean it's okay, yeah, if you say I just want to become very rich person in the world, that's fine, but is there something else to be able to actually become wealthy and abundant businessperson? You also need to think the changing needs of your stakeholder groups and talking to them and engaging with them, involving them and really seeing what difference does it make that Your Business Exist?...

And sometimes it's actually good to ask them verse question. What difference you know, what actually what happens if our business didn't exist? And then if you ask that question from your stakeholders, you will start understanding what difference and impact you are creating and then you can see whether it's about creating an active economy or beautiful society, your clean planet, which are all kind of different themes of these seventeen sustainable development goals, and then go on and research on those, because there are, there are hundred sixty nine targets you can align your business with based on those seventeen goals, and there are like, I don't know, two hundred and thirty forty indicators that you can then start measuring your activities, your services, your products, that you can then start communicating to your stakeholders and in that way you're actually future proofing, I claim,...

...your business because you are making your business more appealing, not just your employees but also your customers and potential investors and partners and for people who can were one to find out more about the wood that you do. Could you share a bit about what you guys do? Yeah, so soon, and I have basically started just recently. It's quite interesting that during the covid nineteen we found each other. We both have been kind of pathological world changes, you know, change makers. So whatever we've done over the years of our lives in in in so many ways, we've already changed the world and now we realize that actually our values match and we have that alignment and we want to work together and inspire others to do the same. So we've only met face to face for once, you know, since we since we started building this...

...future proof Your Business Organization. And it's fine because on online we can meet, you know, every day and we can build our business and talk and create, Co create. But what we've decided that we would like to see in the future is actually have a movement of one million social impact impact businesses that will be making a very swift and decisive and strategic action for making sustainable development goals manifest within the next nine years. We've already the target is two thousand and thirty when all the seventeen goals will be met, and we want to, on our little part, be a force for good by inspiring people who come our way to join our movement or future proofers and make sure that the planet will not go bankrupt and businesses will be the force for good for...

...the planet and for for the people. Thank you very much, and I think that's been really inspiring to hear what you guys are up to. Thank you. Thank you so much for having me.
